Being Grateful Right Now

Being Grateful for all that has happened in the past should be a confirmation to be grateful for what is happening right now.

When was the last time you said or thought, “ I am so grateful for everything that has happened to me in the past”? Why is it that we feel this way? We certainly didn’t feel that way when we were going through it, were we?

As a matter of fact we were most probably cursing the situation and resisting all its circumstances. We wanted out and prayed things would change for the better.

How often do we ever see with a deeper intuitive knowing that it’s a “Good Thing” as Martha Stewart would say? When we are experiencing the moment, whatever the undesirable circumstances are, why do we get so lost and only see the pain and suffering?

I bet you know the answer already don’t you? Yup, it’s that darn ego again. The ego is not getting its way, and wants you to feel it.

When we say the ego is not getting its way, we mean the ego in this situation, thinks it is loosing a part of its existence. The ego can’t afford to loose its identity because if it does it ceases to exist.

You feel this most deeply when you feel your mortality. When you feel “some day I will die”. Well that is just what the ego feels ever moment of the day, so it looks to identify and personalize with whatever it can, each and every moment.

I remember hearing Wayne Dwyer say, (I am paraphrasing); people are just waiting to be offended. This is the ego looking for something to take personally. When it can personalize, it is feeling “Ah ha! I have a connection with that”. When this happens, (and believe me it happens every moment of your waking hours), the ego is sustaining its existence.

You see, you think it is you who are feeling and thinking these thoughts, however, nothing could be further from the truth. The truth is, (Go ahead, and guess. That’s right), you are Beingness, Spirit, God conscious or whatever name you choose.

Then why does it feel like it is you? Because you as Beingness are unconsciously flowing into the ego and giving life to it. Just as if you were an actor playing a character and you got so caught up in being the character that you forget your true Self, (Your True Nature). It’s that simple really.

I was having a wonderful conversation with a client the other day, and she said, “I am so grateful for everything that has happen to me”. In hindsight we can look back and see how our lives have transpired to be where we are today. Even all the challenging moments helped us. Some of the most challenging experiences have been the most positive to who we are today. Without them life would be different.

If you can look back on your life and see this to be true, then you have just uncovered the way to live in the present moment with deep gratitude for whatever you may feel you are challenged with.

We say, “whatever you may feel you are challenged with”, because it is only your perceptions based on your beliefs that sees it as a challenge or a blessing. As crazy as it sounds there are those who would see your challenges, (even the really hard ones), as a blessing in their lives.

The way to live in deep gratitude for the present circumstance is to know that it is a blessing you will be grateful for in the future. So why not be grateful for it now? Can you see the difference in how you will move through your life experiences?

Normally when something happens that we don’t desire, we have a lot of resistance to it. We try to fight against it. We feel angry and fearful, (The ego does). We don’t like it and are certainly not grateful for it.

On the other hand, by rising above and getting a birds eye view, you can know that even this is shaping your life experience into what will be.

This is the deeper understanding of the phrase “Enjoy The Ride”. Enjoy the moment. I agree this can be very challenging when the tough stuff occurs; yet, we all have the potential and ability to experience everything in deep gratitude.

All right, so what does this have to do with being healthy and fit? How is this supposed to help me lose weight, heal my back pain, and recover from my health issues?

Well, we must remember that the body is a servant to the mind. This has been proven by science. Science has shown that thoughts and feelings affect, and manifest in the body.

Case in point. Stress. How often have you heard “Stress Kills”? Emotional stress is the biggest stressor we deal with, and it is the culprit of most of our challenges.

Emotions are caused by our thoughts. If you have, what my mentor Paul Chek refers to as “Stinkin Thinkin” then you are going to have a life full of stress. This stress is going to manifest not only in your body, but also in your life experience. And guess what, your ego will love it, because it gives it a limitless supply of things to associate with.

When you are grateful then you drop your resistance to what is, and with that dropping of resistance there is little to no stress.

A happy mind creates a happy body.

I wish for all of you a Vibrant Life.

Take Good Care,
Dave.
